7th Round of Bilateral Political Consultations between Islamic Republic of Pakistan & Sultanate of Oman was held virtually. Pakistan’s side was headed by H.E. Mr. Sohail Mahmood, Foreign Secretary of Pakistan. Other members of Pakistan delegation included; Special Secretary (Middle East), Director Generals and H.E. K. K. Ahsan Wagan, Ambassador of Pakistan to Sultanate of Oman. Omani side was led by H.E Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa Al-Harthi, Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oman and was assisted by H.E. Muhammad bin Omer Al-Marhoon, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman accredited to Pakistan and Chief of West Asia Department at Omani Foreign office and other senior functionaries form the Foreign Office. Foreign Secretary welcomed all the distinguished dignitaries and participants from Omani side and conveyed greetings on the occasion of 50th National Day of Oman. On behalf of Pakistan’s leadership, he wished health and well being to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik. H.E. Sohail Mahmood also highlighted the contribution of Late Sultan Qaboos Bin Said Al Said in Oman’s progress, prosperity and development. Foreign Secretary also recalled high-level visits of all three services chiefs of Armed Forces in 2018 and visit of Foreign Minister of Pakistan in January 2019 to lead Pakistan’s delegation during Joint Ministerial Commission meeting held at Muscat Both sides exchanged views on building a comprehensive partnership between Pakistan and Oman in the field of Economic Cooperation, Trade & Investment, Defence and Security and also discussed Regional and Global issues, including cooperation at international fora, peace and security in South Asia and Afghan Peace Process. Both sides expressed satisfaction on the progress made in promoting bilateral cooperation in various fields and looked forward to the strengthening of bilateral ties in times to come.
