Mr. Ali Javed, Ambassador of Pakistan to Sultanate of Oman called on Lieutenant General Hassan bin Mohsen bin Salim Al Shraiqi, Inspector General Royal Oman Police & Customs (ROP) yesterday. Recalling fondly their last interaction of August l, 2017, both dignitaries convened an hour-long discussion on various facets of bilateral cooperation including welfare of Pakistanis in the Sultanate. Praising the sizeable presence of nearly 275,000 Pakistani in Oman, the Inspector General praised their immense services towards building Omani society over the past 6 decades. Highlighting 5,000 years old linkages with Oman, the Ambassador accorded a briefing on the current and excellent status of bilateral cooperation in fields of defence, military, security as well as political, parliamentary and people to people exchanges. He expressed gratitude for maintaining safe and secure environment and thanked His Majesty and Omani society for hosting Pakistani community. Briefing on the police force, coast guard and prisons system in Oman that had been aligned with His Majesty's vision to accord 'equal treatment to all', the Inspector General welcomed the structured 24 annual consular visits to prisons by Pakistan Embassy and extended support towards efficient liaison and transparent services. Both sides appreciated cooperation in emergencies to persons rendered stranded or destitute from on and off shore natural calamities and welcomed the discussion on legal framework for Transfer of Prisoners that would pave way for prisoners to serve their sentences in vicinity of their families.
