HE Ali Javed and HE Sheikh Mohammad bin Said Saif Al-Kalbani, Hon'ble Minister for Social Development, Sultanate of Oman have held a meeting at the latter's Office earlier today. The Ambassador accorded a comprehensive briefing on the latest status of bilateral relations, exchange of visits between the Parliamentary, Political and Military leaderships, people-to-people contacts,as well as bilateral trade and accords, finalised or near completion, to boost cooperation. Praising His Majesty's five decades of sagacious leadership, the Ambassador underlined the core strengths of bilateral relations anchored in commonality of strategic vision over bilateral, regional and int'l issues and highlighted performance of 'Pak Oman Investment Company' (POIC), established upon His Majesty's visit to Islamabad in 2001 with $100mn, having now crossed $600mn in assets. The Honorable Minister,underlining historical bilateral ties, appreciated the current trajectory and spectrum of bilateral relations and termed the July 25 general elections in Pakistan as yet another milestone achieved by the people and government of Pakistan. Commending immense services and contributions of Pakistanis in Oman, the Minister expressed support for Pakistan Social Club and plans to build central premises and establish regional branches. The Hon'ble Minister observed that Pakistan and Oman are strategic neighbors with a common history and therefore had a common future as one's prosperity complimented the others. The Ambassador presented Mission's Newsletter and gifted Pakistani 'Chaunsa', a mango globally renowned as the "King of Kings". There are currently 272,000 plus Pakistanis in Oman accounting for the 5th largest presence outside Pakistan whereas PIA, Shaheen Air, Air Blue, together with Oman Air and Salam Air operate in excess of 60 weekly flights among 10 destinations between both Nations.
