General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) concluded his 4-day bilateral visit with a Diplomatic Reception hosted by Ambassador of Pakistan HE Ali Javed, at Crowne Plaza last evening. The Event drew an overwhelming response from salient members of Omani civil society and Pakistanis. Underlining the soaring trajectory of exchanges between Parliamentary, Political and Military leaderships, established mechanisms for cooperation, joint naval exercises and highest port calls during 2018, the Chairman observed that the stated goals of his visit were accomplished and laid the foundation for prospective engagements in 2019. General Hayat broached Pakistan's contributions to promoting peace and stability in its neighborhood and efforts to promote dialogue in the region as means to collective peace and prosperity and briefed the audience on bilateral prospects linked to the fast developing Gwadar Port which shall compliment sister ports on Omani shores. Chairman offered prayers and good wishes for His Majesty's continued health and happiness and for everlasting peace and prosperity of Omani nation. He appreciated Lt. General Ahmad bin Al Nabhani, Chief of Staff Sultan Armed Forces (COSSAF) for excellent hospitality and opportunity to exchange views with Omani leadership. A special ceremony to launch Mr. Ameer Hamza's 'Urdu Translation' of the 475-paged biography on His Majesty titled, "Sultan & Sultanate" was also conducted during the course of the Reception. It contains a chapter on Pakistan. Welcoming the near 75 distinguished guests, Ambassador of Pakistan HE Ali Javed observed that the visible convergence of views and interests between both States, solidly backed by their diverse and vibrant civil societies were reflective of their 5,000 years of common heritage as evidenced from the discoveries of Indus Valley Civilization artefacts made by SQU from foothills of Hajar mountains in Nov 2017. At the onset of his visit, CJCSC accompanied with COSSAF had called on Hon'ble Ministers for Royal Office and Defense. With former praising Pakistan's support in 1950s and 1970s, welcomed presence of Pakistanis in Sultan's Army and proposed to fast-track Ferry Service between Gwadar and Oman whereas the latter describing 'geography proximity' and 'common kinship' emphasized a 'Strategic Partnership'. Earlier is the day, COSSAF hosted CJCSC for a Luncheon. Both dignitaries welcomed MoU for Academic Cooperation & Scientific Research between defense studies institutes and concurred to carry forward Military, Defense and Security cooperation to higher levels. The Chairman extended Pakistan's support to Oman as Chair GCC and invited COSSAF to visit Pakistan in 2019 which was accepted. Pakistan Embassy - Muscat, February 6, 2019.
