Chairman Senate HE Sadiq Sanjrani and five accompanying Senators commenced their engagement today with a call on His Highness Sayyid Asa'ad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister & His Majesty's Personal Representative. Chairman State Council of Oman HE Dr. Yahya Manthri was also present on the occasion along with the Ambassador of Pakistan HE Ali Javed and Deputy Head of Mission Mr. Salman Athar. Fondly recalling his visits to, and interactions with, Pakistani leadership since the 70s, His Highness praised the bonds of fraternity and trust between the two nations. Underlining that Oman's 1/3rd population originates from Balochistan, His Highness expressed gratitude for Pakistanis for thwarting the "Jabal Akhdar Rebellion" of 1954. His Highness Asa'ad welcomed the current presence of Pakistani soldiers in Sultan's Army, Royal Oman Navy and acknowledged contributions to establishing Health, Education and Banking Sectors of Oman. Chairman Senate conveyed sincere wishes and feelings of admiration for His Majesty on behalf of Pakistani people and leadership and welcomed the excellent progress achieved by 'Pak Oman Joint Investment Company' established in consequence of His Majesty's visit to Islamabad in 2001 with $100mn, with current assets of over $600mn. Appreciating the bilateral frameworks for cooperation near finalization, both sides welcomed the MoU for Cooperation between the Parliaments which was scheduled for signatures by Chairmen of Upper Houses, immediately follow the meeting.
