Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman, HE Ali Javed hosted a Diplomatic Reception on September 6, 2018 in Muscat, onboard Navy Ship (PNS) Khaibar, with Commodore Said bin Abdullah Al-Saadi gracing the occasion as Head of delegation nominated by the brotherly Sultanate as Guest of Honor Pakistan. The 'September 6 - Defence & Martyrs Day' was attended by 150 guests including Diplomatic Corps, Omani academia, intellectuals and leading businessmen, as well as Pakistani community with groups traveling from Buraimi, Sohar, Seeb & Nizwa to participate in the Event. CEO Salam Air, CEO WJ Towell Group and Ms. Tahra Alzadjalyah Director/Special Expert on External Affairs, Ministry of Information were also present. A special invitation had also been extended to Ms. Kulsoom, who secured over 97% marks from Omani school in A levels. "#PakistanAwaits" team with Ms. Dana Al Qadhi (Bahrain), Ms. Hiyam Al Jabri & Fahad Al Abri also participated. Captain Farhan, Commander PNS Khaibar outlining the depth of bilateral maritime cooperation and Pakistan Navy's contributions to anti-piracy efforts, shared the recently launched 'Regional Maritime Surveillance Petrol' (RMSP) initiative. The Ambassador paid homage to the martyrs and armed forced for defending the country and highlighted Pakistan's commitment to UN Charter and leading contributions to UN Peacekeeping Operations (UNPKOs) since their inception in 1960, thereby 153 Pakistani peacekeepers sacrificed their lives in 43 UNPKOs. The Event also concluded 'Independence Day' celebrations of August 14th with "Certificates of Excellence" awarded to Pakistani students who won 'Draw Iqbal' competition, adjudged by Stephan Grant, Arts Teacher at a Private School. Soha Ali Khan (11 years, 1st Position, Sohar), Hoorain Shehzad (11 years, 2nd Position, Seeb) & Sibgha Sohail (15 years, 3rd Position, Muscat) outperforming 6000 students in 7 Pakistan Community Schools across the Sultanate where a total of 275,000 Pakistanis reside.
