The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan celebrated Pakistan Day on 5th March 2024 at the Pakistan House in Harare. The chief guest for the occasion was the newly appoint H.E. Sheilla Chikomo, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
The Pakistan House was beautifully decorated on the occasion and Pakistani stalls were established exhibited products from Pakistan. Members of the diplomatic corps, Civil and military bureaucracy of Zimbabwe, friends of the Embassy, representatives of local companies and the Pakistani community members were also invited on the occasion.
Addressing on the occasion Ambassador Murad Baseer reiterated on the strong historical bonds that both Zimbabwe and Pakistan. Bonds that linked us to the Government and people of Zimbabwe when they were fighting for the freedom struggle and the support Pakistan extended then. Pakistani professionals also took part in the nation building process after independence by sending professional including doctors, engineers, teachers and defence forces personnel. The Ambassador expressed his desire to revive and further develop bilateral relations between Pakistan and Zimbabwe and focus on cooperation between Pakistani and Zimbabwean companies in the economic realm.
The Chief guest H.E. Sheilla Chikomo also stressed the need for further engagements between the two countries. She emphasised on the business opportunities in Zimbabwe and called for interest from Pakistani companies to engage with Zimbabwean companies as Zimbabwe was open for business.
The guests were served with traditional Pakistani snacks samosas, chaat, traditional lemonade drink and small BBQ servings.
