A group of Pakistan Navy Ships including PNS RAHNAWARD (Sail Training Ship), PNS GWADAR (Coastal Tanker) and Pakistan Maritime Security Ship DASHT are on a goodwill visit to Muscat (Oman) from 31 December 2019 to 3 January 2020. The goodwill mission is being led by Commodore Awal Khan SI(M), Commander 9th Auxiliary & Mine Warfare Squadron (COMAUXMIN-9) as Mission Commander. On 31 December 2019, Commodore Awal Khan SI(M), Mission Commander along with Commanding Officers PN Ships/PMSS Ship called on H.E. Mr. K. K. Ahsan Wagan, Ambassador of Pakistan. While appreciating the role played by Pakistan Navy in promoting historically fraternal ties with the two navies, Ambassador gave a comprehensive briefing on bilateral relations which are happily existing between the two brotherly countries and greatly appreciated increase in frequency of goodwill visits by Pakistan Navy Ships. Such visits are greatly contributing to enhance defence ties between the two sides. On 1 January 2020, a Reception was hosted onboard Pakistan Navy Ship RAHNAWARD for senior Officers of Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and prominent Pakistan Community members. Commodore Sultan bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al-Alawi, Director General Operation and Plans, Royal Navy of Oman was the Chief Guest on the occasion. On 1 January 2020, Mission Commander and Commanding Officers called on the Commodore Sultan bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al-Alawi, Director General Operations and Plans, Royal Navy of Oman. On 2 January 2020, Mission Commander and Commanding Officers called on Col Ali Maqabli, Director General Coast Guard, Royal Oman Police. During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral cooperation between Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and Omani Coast Guard. The visit by Pakistan Navy Ships is aimed at strengthening the bonds of friendship between Sultanate of Oman and Pakistan in general and Royal Navy of Oman and Pakistan Navy in particular as well as exploring new areas for future collaborative initiatives between the two brotherly countries. The goodwill visit will surely contribute towards improving interoperability and learning from each other’s experiences on maritime operations. Upon departing Port Sultan Qaboos, Pakistani Sailing Vessel RAHNAWARD conducted bilateral Passage Exercise (PASEX) with Omani sailing vessel RNOV SHABAB OMAN-II.
