Pakistani Community and institutions in Oman celebrated Independence Day with diverse and substantive festivities across the Sultanate commencing with a Flag Hoisting ceremony in which 200 guests participated including Pakistan Navy Officers, Businessmen, Professionals and families traveling from Nizwah, Sohar and Ibra. Adding a special color was the launch of a documentary by famous bloggers from Oman & Bahrain who recently visited Pakistan. Special Supplements appeared in leading Arabic & English papers with support business community adding spirit to the celebrations which shall culminate on "Defence Day" falling September 6th with a Diplomatic Reception onboard Pakistan Navy Ship in Muscat. The Special Supplement was augmented with a contribution of an article by the Bloggers. Ambassador Ali Javed's interviews with Radio (www.tfm.om) went on air in the morning and evening of 14th August while the 30 min interview with Live TV went online in the afternoon and received an overwhelming response with 20,000 views on day-one. Ambassador's newspaper interview highlighting, among other aspects, the 5,000 years of relations between Oman and Indus Valley Civilization of 'Mohen Jo Daro' featured on the front page. It traced the trajectory of bilateral human, trade, economic, parliamentary political, and defense relations. Articles on Pakistan also appeared in the August 15 papers. The 6000 students in Pakistan School System (PSS) led celebrations with a remarkable enthusiasm and national fervor and responded with keen interest to "Sketch Iqbal" contest by the Embassy and adjudged by Stephen Grant, Arts Teacher in a private int'l school. Winners and students attaining distinction in academics will be acknowledged on Defense Day Reception. Local media accorded generous coverage to activities by Pakistani students PSS whose 7 branches with 6000 students are established in Muscat, Seeb, Sohar, Musannah, Nizwa, Buraimi and Salalah, whereas the size of Pakistanis in Oman is near 300,000. Ambassador's LIVE interview on Independence Day 2017 had set record with most views (40,000 within 48 hours).
