The Pakistan Embassy here held a 'Kashmir Solidarity Day' event at its Chancery today to highlight the plight of the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir and to express solidarity with them in their struggle against Indian oppression. The 'Kashmir Solidarity Day' is held every year on the 5th of February in Pakistan and across the World. The event began with recitation from the Holy Quran followed by a photo exhibition of Indian atrocities committed against the people in its occupied part of Kashmir. The photographs graphically portrayed the violence and brutality of Indian armed forces against innocent Kashmiri civilians including women and children. A comprehensive 'dossier' compiling Indian atrocities and brutality against the innocent and unarmed Kashmiri people was also released. The 'dossier' contained a fact sheet chronologically detailing Indian brutalities since 1989. The videos depicting these brutal acts of the Indian occupying forces were also shown. Speaking on this occasion the Ambassador of Pakistan to the Kingdom of Morocco, H.E. Mr. Nadir Chaudhri, explained the origin and history of the Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India calling it the 'unfinished agenda of India's partition". He said India has consistently defied the international community by not implementing UN resolutions calling for a solution of the Kashmir dispute nor seriously engaging in bilateral talks with Pakistan to resolve this dispute. He said the Kashmiri people were kith and kin of Pakistanis who were suffering horrific atrocities at the hands of "900,000 Indian occupation forces that had killed 94,888 people, arrested 143,048 and raped 11,036 women since 1989". He added Pakistan would "never" let the Kashmiris down and will continue to provide political, diplomatic and moral support to them. He further said the new generation of Kashmiris has again stood up against continuous use of brutal force by Indian occupation forces. The latest wave of violence started on 8 July 2016 when Indian Armed forces used disproportionate force and Pellet Guns against unarmed and innocent civilians, protesting over the extra-judicial killing of a Kashmiri leader Burhan Wani. Since 8 July 2016, more than 200 civilian have lost their lives and 20,000 have been injured, many of them in critical condition. About 250 youth including girls have permanently lost their eyesight due to pellet injuries to their faces. Indian occupation forces have attacked hospitals where they harass doctors and paramedic staff, threatening them not to treat the injured. According to the doctors, Indian forces have fired at the protesters above waist height indicating premeditated intention of shoot to kill. The Ambassador called upon the international community to take notice of the plight of the Kashmiri people and play their part in alleviating their miseries. Rabat 05 February, 2018
