On the occasion of Kashmir Youm-e-Istehsaal, an event was held at the Embassy on 5th August 2024.
Prominent journalists from Algerian press and electronic media were invited to the embassy for a briefing session. A documentary on Kashmir prepared by the Ministry was shown to the participants, after which Ambassador Khalid Gudaro gave his remarks providing an insight into the origin of the dispute, its evolution and the illegal measures taken by the Indian government since 1947 and specially after 5th August 2019. Ambassador Gudaro while highlighting the importance of 5th August, mentioned that the special status of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir was scrapped by India which was a blatant violation of the United Nations Security Council Resolutions and international law including India’s own commitments to implement the UNSC Resolutions. He underscored the need and urgency to implement the principles of international law and UNSC Resolutions which recognize the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He further called upon the international community to demand India to reverse all the illegal and unilateral measures taken on and after 5th August 2019; immediately halt and reverse the illegal demographic changes in the IIOJK; drop fabricated charges against the detainees and take concrete measures for full implementation of the UNSC Resolutions.
The journalists showed keen interest, which fostered a productive interaction with the embassy officers, leading to a clearer understanding of the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
