HE Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi and HE Yusuf bin Alawi, Foreign Ministers of Pakistan and Oman convened the 7th Session of Joint Commission in Muscat on January 31, 2019, a first such Session Co-Chaired by the Foreign Ministers. On January 30th, the Technical Experts from both sides had met over a daylong Working Session to review cooperation in all sectors and finalised "Agreed Minutes" which subsequently were signed by both Foreign Ministers at the Plenary Session. The two Ministers also witnessed "Signing Ceremony" of bilateral accords including MoUs for Cooperation in areas of Literature & Labour. Both sides, welcoming of Joint Commission led by their Foreign Ministers, highlighted the soaring trajectory cooperation and emphasized to conclude other accords that are near finalization. They also concurred to establish 'Joint Working Groups' for Trade, Investment, Food Security and Energy. Performance of 'Pak Oman Investment Company' established in 2001 with US$ 100mn joint capital with assets now soaring above US$600mn, was welcomed along with its plans to diversify portfolios. Concurring to convene the next Joint Commission in Islamabad in early 2020, both sides expressed their intention to hold 'Bilateral Political Consultations' between the Foreign Secretaries, in Islamabad, during first half of 2019.
