Defence Day of Pakistan was celebrated with great zeal and fervor at Embassy of Pakistan, Muscat. Owing to restrictions imposed by Govt of Oman due to COVID-19 situation (wherein mass gatherings are now allowed), a reduce scale ceremony was organized at the premises of Embassy,which was attended by prominent community members, Officers, staff of Embassy of Pakistan, Media representatives and Social Media Activists. Pakistan flag was hoisted by H.E. K.K. Ahsan Wagan, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Oman. The event started with recitation from Holy Quran. Messages of the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out. While addressing the Pakistani community, H.E. Ambassador Wagan highlighted the sacrifices made by Pakistan Armed Forces and people of Pakistan to protect our motherland during 1965 war. Ambassador also addressed the ongoing turmoil in Kashmir as a result of Indian atrocities and lockdown of Jammu &Kashmir valley since August 5, 2019. He also stated that Pakistan will continue to raise the Kashmir issue at various International fora. On the initiative of the Mission, Pakistan Social Club (largest Community based Organization) organized live programme on Facebook. During three hours live programme children of Pakistan School sung national songs and made speeches to commemorate Defence Day of Pakistan. Ambassador in his live message paid a rich tribute to Shuhada of 1965 war. The live programme was viewed by large number of community members residing in different parts of Oman. In the end, special prayers were offered for martyrs of 1965 war, martyrs of Indian Occupied Kashmir, freedom of Kashmir as well as peace, prosperity and progress of Pakistan. The event marked high spirits of national unity & patriotism as well as pride for Pakistani Diaspora in Oman. Pakistan Embassy ~ Muscat September 6, 2020
