Pakistan Navy Ship SHAMSHEER reached Port Sultan Qaboos in Muscat, Oman on 1 November 2019. The visit, which would conclude on 5 November 2019, is part of Ship's ongoing Regional Maritime Security Patrol (RMSP). It is aimed at maintaining Robust Security posture in the critical sea areas and choke points in Indian Ocean Region for protection of national and international shipping against threats of Maritime Terrorism, Piracy, Narco/ Arms Smuggling and Human Trafficking etc. On 2 November 2019, an onboard Diplomatic Reception was jointly hosted by Charge d' Affaires (a.i) and Commanding Officer PNS SHAHMSHEER, Captain Rao Ahmad Imran Anwar TI(M) Pakistan Navy, which was graced by Commodore Sultan Abdullah Sultan Al-Alwi, Director General OPS & Plans, Royal Navy of Oman as 'Chief Guest' along with a delegation from RNO. The participants besides Omani notables and members of Pakistani community also included Ambassadors of Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Iran, Somalia and Algeria as well as Defence Attaches of China, Egypt, Iran, Italy and UK. Charge d' Affaires (a.i.) welcomed the Chief Guest and all distinguished guests onboard. She, in her speech, underscored that the visit was aimed at strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two Naval Forces of Pakistan and Oman. Both countries are having good military cooperation, out of which Pakistan Navy and Royal Navy of Oman relations are more pronounced in the form of Joint Exercises, High Level visits, mutual trainings and regular port calls by PN Ships to Omani ports. The visit would enhance the friendly ties and strengthen engagement in fields such as trade, defence, culture and education and explore new vistas for future collaborative initiatives between the two brotherly nations. During her speech, she also highlighted the atrocities/brutalities by Indian Armed Forces in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and reiterated Pakistan's stance of its solidarity with Kashmiris and renewing the country's resolve to continue supporting Kashmiris right to self-determination.
