HE Ambassador Ali Javed along with Diplomatic Officers of the Mission participated in the consecrated 'Easter' celebrations organized by 'Urdu Congregation' of 'Protestant Church of Oman' (PCO) at Ruwi, a neighborhood of Muscat city. Reverend Zeresh Daniel led the 'Easter Mass & Prayer' to mark the end of month of fasting for the Christian community worldwide. The Mass drew 600 Pakistani Christians whereas the 'Church Choir' added traditional zeal to the proceedings. Praying for global peace and prosperity, Reverend Daniel highlighted the spirit of celebrating 'Easter' and enlightened the gathering on sacrifices rendered by Jesus Christ for humanity. The Ambassador, recalling with delight his past participations in events hosted by PCO in 2017 & 2018 for Easter and Christmas, praised the 3000 Pakistani Christians in Oman and acknowledged their services for 'Interfaith Harmony & National Integration', 'Health & Education' and thanked them for their contributions in 'humanitarian assistance and relief' efforts at times of natural calamities in Pakistan. The Ambassador, strongly condemning the loss of innocent lives in the terrorist attacks on Easter gatherings in Sri Lanka and citing the recent terrorist attacks on unarmed defense personnel traveling by bus in Balochistan, called upon entire Pakistani community to continue supporting National Action Plan (NAP) and Parliamentary, Political and Defense leaderships, in defeating terrorism. The Ambassador was invited to 'Families Banquet', at a local Hotel hosted by Christian Community where he distributed 'Certificates of Appreciation in field of Teaching to 9 citizens including Asif Saleem, Temar Naeem, John Fernand, Sumble Emmanuel, John Tariq, Sheba Tariq, Nosheen Rehan, Umber Titus & Farah Sohail. Pakistani Christians are credited for establishing "Church of Pakistan" in Salalah (1100kms from Muscat) a decade ago whereas foundations of 'PCO' were laid by Thomas Valpy French, 'Bishop of Lahore', arriving in Muttrah (Muscat) on February 8th 1891 for missionary work which became his final resting place on May 14, 1891.
