HE Ali Javed received at his Office today Captain Talib Al Wahaibi, Chairman Oman Hockey Association (OHA) along with Mr. Shakir Munir, Director External Relations, OHA, and discussed mutual cooperation for the forthcoming Asian Champion Trophy (ACT 18), being hosted in Muscat (Oct 18-28) as well as promotion of Hockey among youths and partnerships with businesses and media. Praising OHA for securing first ever ACT in the GCC and while underlining Hockey as national sport of Pakistanis, the Ambassador expressed support for the Event featuring Pakistan, India Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and hosts Oman. Chairman OHA gifted 100 tickets for Pakistan's matches against Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Oman. The Ambassador announced that the gifted tickets would be distributed on first-come basis among students of 7 branches of Pakistan School System (6000 students), City School & Beacon House Schools (900). Recalling the first ever 'Oman-Pakistan Friendship Cup' a 5-match bilateral Hockey Series contested in Muscat (September 2017) and Tri-Nation Series with addition of Japan (February 2018), Captain Talib expressed appreciation for the Pakistani Business community led by 'Stars Light, 'Syed Fayyaz Group', 'Gulf Neon Signs', 'PIA' whereas the Ambassador expressed appreciation for 'Khurshid Trading & Contracting', 'Ghazal Rice', 'Mohammed Riaz & Partners', 'AZ Engineers' and 'Mirza & Partners' for their commitment to buying out all available tickets for each match featuring Pakistan. Pakistan Hockey is a powerhouse of global achievements including best overall performance in 'World Cup' claiming 4 Championships (1971, 1978, 1982 &1994), most successful team in Asian Games with 8 golds (1958, 1962, 1970, 1974, 1978, 1982, 1990, 2010) crowned with 3 Olympic golds (1960, 1968, 1984).
