The Ambassador of Pakistan to Sultanate of Oman H.E. Ali Javed has recently met with the Chairman OCCI H.E. Qais Mohammad Al Yousef and felicitated the latter for attaining the august position, elections for which were held last month. The Ambassador accorded a briefing on the excellent status of bilateral relations and praised the performance of 'Pak-Oman Investment Company' (POIC), a joint venture taking birth from His Majesty's visit to Pakistan in 2001, initiated with US$100mn, having amassed assets of $400mn in 2016, $585 by end 2017 and now nearing $600mn. The Ambassador outlined the diverse and dynamic outreach initiatives to establish direct linkages with Pakistani community and Omani civil society through "WhatsApp Broadcast" with 13,000 and E-mail Bank with 12,000 subscribers, respectively. The Chairman OCCI fondly recalled participating in 'Business Event' hosted by the Ambassador when H.E. Sartaj Aziz, former Advisor to PM visited Muscat in September 2016. Praising the popularity of Pakistani Basmati Rice, Fresh Meat and Mangoes, both dignitaries explored larger prospects of mutual cooperation in the Sectors of Food Security, Services, Minerals and Tourism and welcomed Pakistani businessmen to visit Muscat, Duq'm and Salalah. Chairman OCCI was accompanied with Dr. Salim Bin Saleem Al Junaiby and Abdul Adheem Abbas Al Bahrani, Vice Chairman and CEO OCCI respectively, while Commercial Counsellor Mr. Ishaq assisted the Ambassador on the occasion lasting over an hour.
