HE Arif Alvi, the Hon'ble President of Pakistan has conferred the National Award of "Hilal-e-Imtiaz" (Crescent of Distinction Medal) on Professor Dr. Michael Jansen in recognition of services to 'Indus Valley Civilization', at the coveted 'investiture ceremony' convened at the Presidency on Pakistan Day - March 23, 2019. The Professor, who holds Ph.D (1979) in 'Architecture of Indus Valley Civilization' was previously decorated with 'Sitara-e-Imtiaz' (Star of Distinction) in 1987. He thus joins the exclusive group of person with two national awards and the only one in field of Indus Valley which bears testimony to his lifelong, passionate services to Mohen jo Daro, the jewel of 3rd millennium Indus Valley Civilization. HE Shafqat Mahmood, Hon'ble Minister National History & Literary Heritage and HE Ambassador Aizaz Chaudhary, DG Institute Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI), a premier think tank, received Professor Jansen on March 21 & 22 respectively. The Professor presented the contours of "Heritage Management Strategy" which aims at establishing vertical and horizontal national structures and integrated regional network to preserve and promote Pakistan's deep and diverse heritage including 5,000 years old 'Indus Valley' and 2000 years old 'Gandhara' civilizations and glorious monuments of Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu & Sikh faiths. Visiting Federal Minister for Religious Affairs & Interfaith Harmony HE Noor-ul-Haq Qadri and Omani Secretary General Defense (MoS) HE Muhammad Nasir Al Rasbi were assisted by Ambassador HE Ali Javed at the recently held 'Pakistan Day' in Muscat, an unprecedented corporate Event hosted in partnership with 16 local Pakistani businesses, the 500 guests witnessed the symbolic presentation of the Award to the Professor who was joined on the occasion by his spouse Micaela.
