Ambassador Saqlain Syedah attended a panel discussion titled “From G20 to COP: An Inclusive Green Transition”. The panel discussion was aimed at reinvigorating endeavours by countries at the brink or experiencing climate crisis.
The event was organized as a side event of Asia Berlin Start-up Summit, by South Africa, the newly elected chair of G20. The panellists discussed various aspects regarding education, green infrastructure and Technology, protection of women and children / vulnerable population against climate hazards, prioritizing loses and damages in the economic and non-economic sectors.
Addressing the audience, Ambassador Saqlain Syedah emphasized that Pakistan is one of the hardest struck countries by the climate change, despite not being responsible for direct climate hazards / damages via emission etc. However,Pakistan is a strong advocate of climate protection and fair / just distribution of “Loss and Damage Funds” because safeguarding the planet is a collective responsibility of humanity that ensures a safe, healthier and prosperous future for the generations to come. She also remarked that many steps have been taken and initiatives being introduced at national level in collaboration with our international partners to mitigate the threats posed by climate change.The event was attended by a large number of stakeholders from various backgrounds.
