Pakistan Embassy Niamey organized an event to commemorate “Right to Self-Determination Day” at the Embassy premises today the 5th January, 2025 reaffirming its unwavering support for the Kashmiri people's inalienable right to self-determination. The event was attended by the civil society, Pakistani community, and officials of the Embassy. The messages of the President, Prime Minister and Deputy PM/Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out by Charge d’Affaires Mr. Nadeem Ahmad, reaffirming Pakistan's commitment to the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination. Mr. Ahmed also delivered a powerful speech, emphasizing the importance of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. Seventy-six years ago, the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP) adopted a resolution, recognizing the Kashmiri people's right to decide their own future through a free and impartial plebiscite. Despite this, India's occupation of Jammu and Kashmir continues to deny the Kashmiri people their fundamental right to self-determination. Pakistan strongly condemns India's human rights abuses, forced disappearances, and suppression of peaceful protests in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The event served as a powerful reminder of Pakistan's unwavering commitment to the Kashmiri people's struggle for self-determination, and the country remains steadfast in its support for the Kashmiri people's right to freedom and self-determination. The event concluded with a heartfelt dua (prayer) for the Kashmiri people, seeking Allah's mercy, protection, and liberation for those suffering under occupation, and praying for the swift realization of their right to self-determination and freedom.
