Pakistan and Lebanon share a history of friendly and cooperative relations rooted in shared cultural and religious values. Diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Lebanon were established in the 1950s. Both countries maintain resident diplomatic missions in each other’s capitals. Lebanon also maintains an Honorary Consulate in Karachi. Pakistan Embassy in Beirut is also concurrently accredited to the Republic of Cyprus.
The two countries continue to explore avenues for deeper collaboration in areas such as trade, educationand defense, further strengthening their longstanding partnership. Both countries also enjoy excellent cooperation at various multilateral fora including Unites Nations and OIC.
Institutional Mechanisms:
The MoU on Bilateral Consultations between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries was signed in 2002. The inaugural session of Consultations was eventually held in Beirut on 28 November 2018.
The Agreement on establishing a Joint Economic Commission was signed on 28 July 2022. Upon completion of internal procedures from both sides, the Agreement came into force on 17th May 2023.
