Foreign Service Academy About Us
The Foreign Service Academy is the training arm of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan. It was established in September 1981, and has so far trained hundreds of Pakistani and foreign diplomats.
All Officers of the Foreign Service of Pakistan are graduates of the Foreign Service Academy. In addition to training entry-level officers , the Academy also organizes Domain-Specific component of the Mid-Career Management Course (MCMC) for mid-tier officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In addition, officers from other departments of Pakistan also receive training at the Academy before their foreign assignments. In this regard, the Academy has also been organizing orientation courses specially tailored for spouses and families of Pakistani diplomats.
The Academy has also been arranging short courses and seminars on diplomacy for the Defence and Community Welfare attachés due to be posted to our Missions abroad.
The Academy also takes pride in hosting training courses for ASEAN, UNCTAD as well as SIDS and LDCs in addition to Junior Diplomatic Courses as well as Advanced Diplomatic Courses for foreign diplomats.
Over the years, the Foreign Service Academy has built an impressive and diverse pool of international alumni from 120 countries. Currently, the number of our international alumni, many of them serving at the highest positions in the Foreign Services of their respective countries, stands at 1590.
The Academy is headed by a Director General, assisted by two Directors, and two Assistant Directors. Our faculty comprises a rich blend of accomplished and influential diplomats, members of academia and think tanks, civil servants, and professionals from both public and private sectors.
Currently, the officers of the 44th Specialized Diplomatic Course are undergoing their training at the Academy.
