Attestation of Documents for Use in Pakistan

The Consulate attests documents executed in Italy that are intended for use in Pakistan, including but not limited to:

• Power of Attorney
• Affidavits
• Divorce Deeds
• Life Certificates
• Declarations and other legal documents executed before the Consular Officer

Documents issued by Italian authorities (such as Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, Death Certificates, Court Documents, and other civil documents) must first be legalized by the competent Prefettura and accompanied by a duly translated copy before they can be attested by the Consulate.

The applicant must appear in person before the Consular Officer at the time of attestation and produce:

• Original Passport
• Original CNIC/NICOP
• Valid Residence Permit (Permesso di Soggiorno)
• Original document to be attested
• One set of photocopies of all supporting documents

Important:

• Only original documents are attested.
• Documents issued by Italian authorities must be legalized by the competent Prefettura and accompanied by a duly translated copy prior to submission.
• Documents are accepted from 09:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Monday to Friday.
• Documents are generally returned on the same working day unless additional verification is required.

This wording makes it clear that the Prefettura legalization and translation requirement applies specifically to documents issued by Italian authorities, while documents executed before the Consular Officer (such as affidavits and powers of attorney) are handled directly by the Consulate.
