On 16.05.2026, H.E Dr. Faryal Leghari, Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkmenistan participated in the festive event dedicated to the awarding of Turkmen horse breeders with the highest awards, equestrian competitions, and beauty contests held under the title “Pearl of the East” in the beautiful Tashkent Park in Ashgabat. The Turkmen Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Rashid Meredov and other Ministers from Turkmenistan attended the event that was hosted by the Uzbekistan Embassy jointly with the Government of Turkmenistan.
The Turkmen State Television interviewed the Ambassador and asked her about her impressions of the event and arrangements as the year 2026 is dedicated to the Heavenly Horses of Turkmenistan. The Ambassador said she was delighted to be part of the events commemorating the beautiful Akhal-Teke horses of Turkmenistan, which are world renowned known for their beauty and exclusivity. Ambassador Leghari expressed hope that Pakistan-Turkmenistan diplomacy should further strengthen in sports, especially equestrian pursuits, as Pakistan also values horses and equestrian pursuits that could include horse races, tentpegging, horse dance performances and polo, which would benefit both countries and bring the two friendly and brotherly nations together in their love for sports and enhance people to people contact thus deepening diplomatic relations.
The ambassador paid homage to the Turkmen leadership, especially President H.E. Mr. Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Arkadag H.E. Mr. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, for their dedication to sports, equestrian pursuits and wellbeing of the people. She also thanked Uzbekistan’s ambassador H.E. Mr. Ravshanbek Alimov for organizing the event. The event featured Turkmen performances depicting equestrian themes, paintings and exhibits of horses and saddlery.
