On February 18, 2025, Turkmenistan celebrated Day of Diplomatic Workers dedicated to contribution of Turkmen diplomats and service professionals in advancing their nation’s international relations and promoting its interest on the global stage. A formal ceremony was held at Turkmen Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. In 2009, Government of Turkmenistan decided to honor the nation’s diplomatic service by recognizing the vital role of their diplomats in implementing Turkmenistan’s Foreign Policy, which is based on principle of positive neutrality, peaceful co-existence and mutual respect.
The ceremony was attended by high ranking Government officials, Diplomats, Representatives of International Organizations, media Representatives, Professors, Scholars, local dignitaries and students. While addressing the conference, Mr. Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan read out the message of the Turkmen President who emphasized Turkmenistan’s Foreign Policy principles rooted in positive neutrality, mutual respect and cooperation. He praised the efforts of Turkmen diplomats in fostering its strong bilateral and mutual ties. Senior Diplomats were awarded the distinctive medal “Master of Diplomat”
A series of cultural events were held including exhibition and performances showcasing Turkmenistan’s rich cultural heritage and traditions. All residents diplomatic missions were asked to set up their country stalls at the conference venue. Accordingly, Embassy of Pakistan Ashgabat also set up a stall and displayed wide variety of Pakistani cultural artifacts representing all parts of Pakistan. Mr. K.K. Ahsan Wagan, Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkmenistan alongiwth his Embassy team welcomed Mr. Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and briefed him about rich Pakistani cultural heritage and artifacts displayed at Pakistani stall. Pakistan stall was viewed by large number of government functionaries, resident Ambassadors, diplomats, media representatives, and local dignitaries. The visitors were served traditional Pakistani dishes such as various types of samosas, pakoras, biryani and Pakistani Tea. The visitors greatly appreciated Embassy’s efforts in showcasing rich Pakistani culture and cuisine.
Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkmenistan on behalf of the leadership and people of Pakistan extended warmest congratulation on the occasion of Day of Diplomatic Workers of Turkmenistan. He informed the Turkmen Foreign Minister that Pakistan values its strong and historic ties with Turkmenistan, which are based on shared cultural heritage, commonality of views, common faith, mutual respect and a common vision of regional connectivity and prosperity. Ambassador Wagan highly commended the efforts of Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its distinguished diplomats, who are playing active role in promotion of bilateral cooperation in various fields including trade, energy, culture and people to people exchanges.
