An event commemorating Allama Muhammad Iqbal was held in the Pakistan Consulate, Mashhad (Iran) on 9 November 2025. Hosted by the Consulate General of Mashhad, Mr. Muhammad Shaheryar, the well-attended event witnessed significant participation of over 100 guests, including distinguished scholars, poets and professors from the University of Tehran and Ferdowsi University. Moreover, the Governor General of Khorasan Razavi (Mr. Gholam Hossein Mozaffari) attended the event as the Chief Guest. Other esteemed guests spoke on Iqbal, his Persian poetry and philosophy.
In the Ambassador’s address, she focused on Iqbal’s concept of khuddi or the Self, highlighting its critical value and its relevance for Muslims, especially in today’s world where the youth have lost spiritual connections with Iqbal’s teachings. The Ambassador appreciated the Consulate’s efforts to commemorate the event and to bring together a plethora of distinguished speakers whose timely talks on Iqbal resonates with the situation facing the Muslim world.
