On 18 July 2025, the Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Ms. D. Gulmanova, in a meeting emphasized the need for parliamentary cooperation. She noted the helpful discussions with Chairman of the Senate Yousaf Reza Gillani during his visit to Turkmenistan in May 2025. The Majlis Chairperson appreciated Pakistan’s role and support in upholding Turkmenistan’s status as a Permanent Neutral State, and proposed that Pakistan and Turkmenistan’s parliamentary groups could strengthen political cooperation by holding hybrid meetings regularly. Ms Gulmanova also said that women parliamentarians could share experiences and learn from each other. Ms. Gulmanova informed Pakistan’s Ambassador Leghari of the Turkmenistan leadership’s support for women and their representation in parliament and government. The two sides exchanged views on political and economic cooperation. The Ambassador was appreciative of Turkmen culture and progressive policies on women’s empowerment. Both sides pledged to cooperate closely and make efforts to strengthen political ties.
