On behalf of 34 countries, Pakistan delivered a joint statement at #CCPCJ highlighting deep concern over the alarming rise in Islamophobia and religious intolerance.
The statement called for concrete international action to counter hate-driven crimes and protect all faiths. It also welcomed legislative and other measures being taken by some Member States to address Islamophobia and encouraged others to emulate.
The statement called on UNODC to enhance its work on tracking global hate crime trends—including Islamophobia—and to support States in identifying, investigating, and prosecuting such acts. It urged the Commission to prioritize this issue at the upcoming UN Crime Congress.
