Pakistan and the Czech Republic have a robust economic cooperation. Pakistan’s exports include traditional items such as textiles, rice, leather, cutlery, surgical items and sports goods. Exports from Pakistan almost doubled during 2016-22, while at the same time imports largely remained at the same level, while witnessing drop in some years, over the same period. The increase in exports from Pakistan to Czech Republic can largely be attributed to GSP Plus status, due to which Pakistan’s major exports have duty free access to the European Union.
Czech Republic specializes in cutting edge technologies that have wide application from security, defence, agriculture, mining, energy and water desalination. From time to time, Czech companies have shown keen interest in sharing its expertise with Pakistan, for addressing some of the most pressing challenges faced today.
Moreover, Moravske Naftove Doly(MND), a Czech oil and gas exploration company is well established in Pakistan, mining over 300 million cubic meters of gas a year. Similarly, Czech mining companies are also interested in exploring investment opportunities in Pakistan.
