H.E. Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, delivered the national statement in the Inter Parliamentary Conference “The Role and Best Practices of the Legislature in the Protection of Cultural Heritage”, held in Baku during the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue. The Inter Parliamentary Conference was chaired by Chairperson Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ms. SahibaGafarova.
The Deputy Speaker highlighted the significance of the cultural heritage, which represents the essence of societies and encapsulate their history, values and identity. Sharing the rich cultural heritage of Pakistan spanning over ancient civilizations of Mohenjo Daro and Taxila, the Deputy Speaker outlined various legislative measures introduced in Pakistan, both at federal and provincial levels, for preservation and protection of cultural heritage. He also underscored the need of adopting cutting-edge technologies for documentation, conservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
The Deputy Speaker is heading the Pakistan delegation to participate in the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue being held in Baku on 1-3 May 2024. Members of Parliament, Ambassadors, members of civil society and religious leaders from Pakistan are part the delegation.
