PRESS RELEASE
Kashmir Solidarity Day Observed at the Embassy of Pakistan, Vienna, to Reaffirm Pakistan’s Diplomatic, Moral and Political Support to the Just Struggle of the People of Kashmir
The Embassy of Pakistan hosted an event to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day to express support with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), and to highlight the egregious human rights violations being committed by India in IIOJK.
During the event, Ambassador Muhammad Kamran Akhtar Malik read the messages from the President, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister on the occasion, reaffirming Pakistan’s continued diplomatic, moral and political support to the just struggle of the people of Kashmir. In his remarks, he underscored that the day demonstrates that Pakistan had not forgotten its Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their struggle against woeful Indian Occupation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He also highlighted that, every year, on this day, Pakistan marks the Kashmir Solidarity Day which provides an opportunity to pay tribute to the unparalleled commitment of the Kashmiris for the attainment of the legitimate right to self-determination.
He further stated that our collective efforts must continue to galvanise support of the international community and to utilise all available platforms effectively to demand an end to India’s gross and widespread human rights violations in IIOJK. He called for UN supervised investigations into the extrajudicial killings to ensure the implementation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
The event was attended by Pakistani community members and representatives of the Kashmiri diaspora based in Austria and Slovakia who expressed their solidarity with the people of Kashmir. They were unanimous in their views that the international community must come together to raise its voice against the reign of terror and suppression and the gross and widespread violations of human rights and international humanitarian law due to the illegal and forcible occupation of IIOJK by India. They all prayed for the brutal occupation of IIOJK to end and for the realisation of the right of self determination for all Kashmiris.
