A cargo aircraft from Pakistan, carrying a total of 17 tons of humanitarian aid from the Government and people of Pakistan, for the brotherly people of Lebanon, landed at Rafic Hariri International Airport, Beirut today. This relief effort comes in response to the directives of Prime Minister of Pakistan H.E. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to supporting Lebanon during its time of need. The consignment comprising ball tents, powdered milk, tin food, jerry canes and family pack buckets containing various household items and cloths, has been arranged by National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan in coordination with Al Khidmat Foundation Pakistan. The aid shipment was received at the Airport by H.E. Salman Athar, Ambassador of Pakistan to Lebanon along with Embassy officials. MP Dr Fadi Alame, Chairman of Foreign Relations Committee of Lebanese Parliament, MP Dr. Bilal Abdallah, Chairman of Parliament’s Public Health, Labor and Social Affairs Committee and General Mohammad Kheir, Secretary General of High Relief Commission of Lebanon and Mr. Diaa Youssef, Advisor to Minister of Economy and Trade H.E. Amin Salam received the consignment on behalf of Government of Lebanon.
While speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Athar said that the Government and people of Pakistan will continue to support their Lebanese brethren during these challenging times. The Ambassador also reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
So far two special cargo planes bringing a total aid of 117 tons from Pakistan have arrived in Lebanon and more humanitarian aid is scheduled to be dispatched from Pakistan during the next few days.
