Following the National Day Celebration and flag hoisting ceremony in the morning at the Embassy,a grand reception was held at a local hotel on 23 March 2017. The reception was attended by prominent Parliamentarians including Seishiro Eto , President of the Japan-Pakistan Parliamentarians’ Friendship League (JPPFL) Head of Komeito coalition partner of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party Mr. Natsuo Yamaguchi, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Motome Takisawa, sports icon and member of Upper House Antonio Inoki, over seventy Heads of Missions, representatives of Japanese Government, notable members of Civil Society, think-tanks, international organizations, the Media and business entities. The reception commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran followed by the National Anthems of Pakistan and Japan sung by Japanese music composer and singer Ms. Masako Shindo.
The Ambassador underlined the importance of Pakistan-Japan relations and stated that both countries had historical friendship based on mutual trust and dignity. Heparticularly referred to Pakistan’s first Foreign Minister’s statement at San Francisco Peace Conference (1951) wherein he urged that Japan should be treated with respect and dignity. Whilst stressing on enduring commitment to democracy he highlighted growing democratic culture and institutions in Pakistan, Pakistan's contributions to the world peace through UN Peacekeeping Operations and Prime Minister’s commitment to build bridges of peace, corridors of energy flow and secure regional stability through trade and enterprise through his vision of ‘Peaceful Neighbourhood’ as witnessed in the ECO Summit on 1 March 2017.
