Today, the Embassy of Pakistan, Vienna, organized an event to commemorate “Kashmir Black Day” which was attended by the members of civil society, representatives of Pakistani community, representatives of Kashmiri community and officials of the Embassy of Pakistan.
At the event, The Chargé d’Affaires (C d’A a.i), Mr. Adeel Ahmed Khan, shared messages from the President, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister reaffirming Pakistan’s continued diplomatic, moral and political support to the just struggle of the people of Kashmir. In his remarks, he also highlighted the historical significance of 27th October, expressed complete solidarity with the people of Indian Occupied Jammu & Kashmir and condemned the continued brutal use of force by the Indian Occupation Forces and New Delhi’s illegal steps taken on and since 05 August including imposition of strict curfew and complete lockdown of the Valley. He urged the international community to raise its voice in support of the long-suffering people of IIOJK and play its due role in enabling them to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination, as guaranteed to them in the UN Security Council resolutions.
Distinguished members of the Pakistani community across Austria and Slovakia as well as international scholars took the floor to call for greater solidarity by the international community on the issue and to heed the call of the Kashmiri community against the inhuman treatment meted out to them. They expressed that people of Pakistan joined shoulder-to-shoulder with Kashmiris latest struggle and that day is not far away and the Kashmiri will enjoy freedom. During the event, a documentary regarding the historical significance of Kashmir Black Day was also screened.
The 27th of October is observed the world over as ‘Black Day’. On this day in 1947, India, without any legal justification, forcibly took control of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Since then, the Indian Occupied Forces are mercilessly killing innocent and unarmed Kashmiris, vandalizing their properties and indulging in other inhuman acts.
