A seminar and Photo exhibition commemorating Kashmir Black Day, was held at the Consulate General of Pakistan in Milan. The event attracted a diverse audience, including members of the Pakistani community, academia, students, and human rights experts.
The seminar commenced with a recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by remarks from Deputy Consul, Ahmad Waleed, and Immigration Liason Officer (ILO) Asmat Ullah Junejo. Later, Mr. Stefano Vernole from the Centro Studi Eurasia Mediterraneo (CeSm), an Italian think tank, provided an insightful analysis of the conflict and its geopolitical implications. A short documentary highlighting the Kashmir dispute and Human rights violations being committed by Indian occupation forces in Kashmir was also screened at the event.
In her remarks, Consul General Aqsa Nawaz gave an overview of the history of the conflict and significance of the day that was being observed as Black Day. She called upon the international community to acknowledge and address the human rights violations occurring in IIOJK especially since 2019. The Consul General asserted that neglecting these issues could lead to continued political, economic, and social unrest in the region and underscored the necessity for peaceful resolution of the issue through open dialogue. Furthermore, she reiterated that the people and government of Pakistan remain steadfast in their diplomatic, moral, and political support for the Kashmiri people until they can fully exercise their right to self-determination, as stipulated in United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
