The Seventy-second Session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), held in Bangkok on 15-19 May 2016, adopted Pakistan's draft resolution on "Harnessing science, technology and innovation (STI) for inclusive and sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific," by consensus. Pakistan's resolution received support of many member states including China, Iran, Nepal, Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka and Thailand. The draft resolution called for strengthening cooperation by Member States in science technology and innovation for sustainable development. The meeting was attended by Mr. Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister for Science and Technology, accompanied with Ambassador Sohail Khan and other members of the delegation from the M/o Information Technology and Telecommunication and National Highway Authority.
