Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN and International Organizations in Vienna, H.E. Mr. Mohammad Kamran Akhtar Malik, presented his credentials to H.E. Mr. Gerd Muller, Director General of UNIDO.
The Permanent Representative of Pakistan in his meeting with the Director General (UNIDO) highlighted that Pakistan and UNIDO have a strong partnership which is spread over five decades. He added that Pakistan greatly values UNIDO’s role in Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development across the globe, particularly in the developing world. He expressed confidence that UNIDO would continue to play its positive role in attainment of Sustainable Development Goals.
While praising the role of UNIDO’s Country office in Pakistan, the Permanent Representative also appreciated the valuable assistance in the implementation of UNIDO’s Country Program for Pakistan.
The Director General (UNIDO) welcomed the Permanent Representative and expressed his gratitude for Pakistan’s constructive role in the organization. He added that UNIDO will continue to play its effective role in industrial development and climate change adaptation and mitigation in Pakistan.
Pakistan maintains an active diplomatic profile at UNIDO. Pakistan is a member of all Policy making organs including the Programme and Budget Committee and the Industrial Development Board. UNIDO has successfully completed its Country Program for Pakistan 2018-22 and has implemented 09 projects with cumulative funding over 77 million Euros. The two sides are currently developing a new Program for Country Partnership (PCP).
