To observe Kashmir Black Day 2022, a Seminar was organized at the Embassy of Pakistan, Beirut. Participants included members of civil society representing the various religious, think tanks, academics and journalists from print and electronic media. Highlighting the significance of Kashmir Black Day, Ambassador Salman Athar noted that 27 October 2022 marks 75 years of India's illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. India has completely disregarded the UN resolutions on the dispute as the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) continue to suffer under the brutal occupation. The Ambassador noted that the sufferings of the Kashmiri people have increased manifold since India abrogated the special status of IIOJK through the revocation of Articles 370 and 35-A of the Indian Constitution on August 5, 2019. The Ambassador further emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute and international community should take immediate steps to resolve this issue in accordance with the UN resolutions. The other speakers included Dr. Imad Rizk, Director Istasharia Institute of Strategic Studies, Dr. Walid Arbid, Professor of International Relations at the Lebanese University and Dr. Muhammad Faqih, Director Al Mayadeen TV. They also highlighted the plight of innocent Kashmiris and expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir. During the event videos depicting the Indian atrocities and miserable plight of innocent Kashmiris were also shown. 27th of October is observed the world over as Kashmir Black Day. 75 years ago, on this day, India forcibly took over control of the State of Jammu and Kashmir without any legal justification.
