In commemoration of the Kashmir Black Day, a seminar was organized by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Amman on 27 October 2024. The event was attended by representatives from different domains of Jordanian social milieu including academia, media, think tanks as well as members of Pakistani diaspora in Jordan.
The Speakers at the above seminar included Dr. Hassan Mubaideen, Delegate of the World Forum for Moderation, Director of the Centre for Studies and Research; Dr. Zaid Ali Muhaisen, President, Pakistan Graduates Club; Dr. Wadah Kilani, Prominent Social Activist, Mr. Shakir Haddad from Media & Poet Abdul Rahman Mubaideen. In their remarks, the speakers emphasized that Jammu & Kashmir along with Palestine remained the two core issues of the Muslim Ummah and the resolution of both as per the UN Security Council resolutions was indispensable for global peace and stability. They urged the international community to take notice of crimes against humanity against the defenceless Kashmiris and Palestinians. The Speakers also supported Pakistan's genuine and sincere efforts at reaching a peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue.
In his keynote address, Dr. Shakaib Rafique, Charge d’ Affaires a.i. shed light on the Kashmir cause as well as plight and sacrifices of our Kashmiri brethren in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Dr. Shakaib Rafique stated that over the past more than seven decades, the Indian Occupation Forces had persisted with their settler-colonial agenda through genocidal war crimes and state terrorism of unprecedented proportions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK). The significance of the Kashmir Black Day had increased further ever since India took its illegal actions of 05 August 2019 in IIOJK, when Articles 370 as well as 35 (a) of Indian Constitution were abrogated. Dr. Rafique emphasized that Pakistan is and will continue to urge the international community to hold India accountable for its egregious human rights violations in IIOJK. He stated that Pakistan’s principled position on the Jammu & Kashmir dispute was anchored in the relevant UN Security Council’s Resolutions. Pakistan remained firmly committed to the resolution of the Jammu & Kashmir dispute through free and impartial plebiscite under the UN auspices as enshrined in the UNSC Resolutions. Kashmir Black Day served as a reiteration and reaffirmation of our strong resolve and commitment to this effect.
