Major General Khurram Sarfraz Khan, HI (M) (Retired), Ambassador designate to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, was born on 20 September 1969. He was commissioned into the Pakistan Army on 6 September, 1990, and served for an illustrious period of 35 years. In recognition of his professional service and dedication, he was awarded the prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military).
He is an alumnus of Command and Staff College, Quetta and the National Defence University, Islamabad. He holds a Master's Degree in `Art and Science of Warfare' as well as an M Phil in `Public Policy and Strategic Security Management'.
During his career, he held diversified Command, Staff and Instructional appointments. He commanded his parent Infantry Battalion 27 Baloch (JANNISARS), an Infantry Brigade, followed by two prestigious Infantry Divisions operating in Pakistan's eastern and western border regions. His staff experience includes GSO-3 of an Infantry Brigade, Brigade Major of an Azad Kashmir Brigade along the Line of Control, Pakistan Army Liaison Officer in Bagram, Afghanistan, Deputy Additional Military Secretary in Military Secretary Branch, General Headquarters and Chief of Staff of a Corps. His instructional contributions to the Pakistan Army include service on the faculty of three of the country's prestigious military institutions: The Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, the Command and Staff College in Quetta, and the National Defence University in Islamabad.
In addition to his core military and educational responsibilities, Major General Khurram Sarfraz Khan also held senior administrative and policymaking roles in military administration, inter agency coordination and defence infrastructure management. He served as Additional Secretary-1, in the Ministry of Defence and later as Director General Quartering and Lands Directorate in General Headquarters, Rawalpindi.
He is an active sportsman who enjoys cricket, tennis and golf. His leisure pursuits include reading, trekking, cycling and travelling. He is happily married and is the proud father of three children, all of whom are serving in the Pakistan Army.
