The Government of Pakistan and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) jointly convened a high-level Engagement Dialogue on Pakistan’s Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) 2025–2030 at the Vienna International Centre today. The event brought together representatives of UNIDO Member States, donor agencies, international financial institutions, development partners, private sector stakeholders, and the United Nations system to discuss support for Pakistan’s industrial development priorities and mobilize partnerships for the implementation of the PCP.
The PCP was signed by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan H.E. Senator Ishaq Dar in Vienna on 16th February 2026 in the presence of the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Mr. Gerd Muller, Director General UNIDO, termed PCP as a vehicle for industrial development and spelled out key priorities of UNIDO’s Technical Cooperation with Pakistan.
Ambassador Muhammad Kamran Akhtar, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to UNIDO, underscored the PCP’s alignment with Pakistan’s national development agenda and its focus on clean energy transition, export-oriented industrial growth, value-chain development, green industry, sustainable minerals, skills development, and job creation. During thematic sessions, speakers briefed participants on the strategic priorities of the PCP, including strengthening of agro-processing, textiles and leather sectors.
Mr. Ahsan Mangi, Special Secretary, Ministry of Industries and Production and Mr. Mohammad Yaha, United Nations Resident Coordinator also participated online. Moreover, Permanent Representative of several Member States including China, EU, Japan, Saudi Arabia and representative of European Investment Bank expressed their commitment and support for the PCP.
The Engagement Dialogue concluded with a renewed call for close coordination among government institutions, UNIDO, Member States, development finance institutions, and donor partners to help translate the PCP into tangible development assistance for Pakistan.
