Pakistan – Iran Relations
Pakistan and Iran share a 909-km long border and have close historical, cultural and religious ties. Iran was the first country to recognize Pakistan on 22 August 1947. Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognize the Islamic Republic of Iran (created after the 1979 Revolution). The relationship is marked with active engagements and high level visits between the two countries at all levels.
The bilateral trade volume currently stands at around US$ 2.8 billion (Pakistan’s exports: US $ 684 million; Pakistan’s imports: US $ 2.1 billion.) FY 2023-2024
Major Imports of Pakistan include LPG, Bitumen, Dates, Coal Tar, bars and rods of iron or non-alloy steel, Tomatoes and Onions, Nuts, Ethylene Polymers, Acyclic Hydrocarbons etc. Major Exports of Pakistan include Rice, Sesame Seeds, Mangoes, Bananas, Citrus Fruit, Live animals, Fabrics, Surgical and Dental Instruments, Gelatin, Bovine chilled meat etc.
