Attestation of Power of Attorney/Documents
1) What is the fee for attestation of Power of Attorney?
Fee for one continuous documents of 3 pages is C$ 20.00 any exceeding page or document is C$ 20.00 e.g. if one document/power of attorney starts on page 1 and ends on page 3 the fee is C$ 20.00 and if it ends on page 4 than C$ 40.00. If pages are more than 3 add C$ 20.00 per page.
2) What information does the Power of Attorney have to contain?
We have nothing to do with the written contents of the Power of Attorney and are only attesting the signatures.
3) Can the Power of Attorney be written on plain paper?
For attestation purposes we can attest Power of Attorneys written on plain paper.
4) Does selling property in Pakistan require a Power of Attorney?
If the person who owns the property is not in Pakistan and is appointing someone else to act on his/her behalf he/she will need a Power of Attorney.
5) Does my Power of Attorney require a witness?
Yes two witnesses are required for us to attest the Power of Attorney.
6) How long is my Power Of Attorney valid for?
Power of Attorneys are only valid for 3 months from the date of execution at our office (this would be the date stamped on the Power Of Attorney).
If this is not presented in Pakistan before the expiry date the Power Of Attorney will have to be re-validated or you may choose to apply for a fresh Power Of Attorney.
7) Can you send my Power Of Attorney directly to Pakistan from your office in Vancouver?
Yes we can as long as you cover all the mailing charges and the return envelope must be self-addressed to the address in Pakistan you wish to have it mailed to.
FAQ General
1) Do I need to make separate money order for each application?
You can make one money order for all the applications payable to “Consulate General of Pakistan”. MRP applications requires one separate bank draft/money order/certified cheque per application.
2) What form of payment do you accept?
Debit/Credit card:
In person: Payment can be made by debit/credit card in our office.
Bank draft/money order/certified cheque:
In person: Bank draft/money order/certified cheque already issued in favour of Consulate General of Pakistan will still be accepted.
By mail: Applications sent by mail must be paid by bank draft/money order/certified cheque already issued in favour of Consulate General of Pakistan.
3) Can I send all applications in one courier package?
Yes you can send all applications in one courier package. Please note MRP applications require personal appearance for submission of application.
4) Can I submit more than one application to you by mail in the same envelope?
Yes you can. Please note MRP applications require personal appearance for submission of application.
5) Can I send one prepaid self addressed courier envelope for all applications?
MRP application requires one return envelope is required per applicant.
For all other applications such as visa you can send one prepaid self addressed courier envelope for all your documents/applications.

7) I have been trying for days to contact your office. How can I get a hold of someone to ask questions related to Passport, Visa, NICOP, Attestation, Child Registration or Endorsement?

*Please note we only have one customer service representative; at times there are large call volumes that result in longer wait times.
8) How come I can’t track my application on your website?
If your application has arrived recently it can take 1-2 business days to be added to our system for online viewing.
If it has been more than 1-2 business days from the arrival of your application you may try tracking your application again with the following information:
1) Your application is entered based on the information provided on your application form.
2) Any misspelled first, middle or last names as well as incorrect date of birth entered on the form may be entered into our system as so. Also if your writing is not neat your name may be entered incorrectly.
3) If you have only written your first and last name on the application form , your information will be entered with your first and last name along with your date of birth.

Some applications dropped off in person are not entered into our system for online viewing.
MRP applicants must use the MRP arrival chart on our tracking page.

9) How long does it take to process my application if I send it by mail?
The day that your application is received by mail to our office we will begin to process it, for example if you have applied for visa it will take us 7 business days to process it from the date of arrival. On the 7th business day we will send out your documents. It will then take however long (depending on what courier company you are using , what level of service you have paid for, and what area you live in) to get back to you by mail.
If you need to know how long it takes by mail for delivery; you may ask your courier company for this information.
Please note MRP applications require personal appearance for submission of application.
10) My application has been processed and my documents have been mailed out already, how long will it take to reach me by mail?
It depends on which courier you have used to ship your documents (for example Canada Post, FedEx, Purolator, DHL, UPS ect.), what level of courier service you have paid for and if you live in a rural area or in a city/town.
Please check with your courier for such information.
11) I want to send my application to your office, where should I send it?
Applications for visa, child registration, attestation, driver’s license, police clearance and any other applications available in our other services section may be sent to:

12) I want to apply in person to your office, what information should I be aware of?
Applications for passport, visa, child registration, attestation, driver’s license, police clearance and any other applications available in our other services section may be submitted in person to:

We accept applications Monday-Friday between 10am-1pm.
Personal appearance is mandatory for MRP application.
For all other applications the applicant does not necessarily have to be there, if you wish you may have someone drop off your application during those hours. Once the application is dropped off you will get a receipt which will have a pickup date. Only persons holding the original receipt can pickup those documents.
Our hours for document pickup are Monday-Thursday between 3pm-4pm.
13) I want to know if my application (visa, child registration, attestation, driver’s license, police clearance, ect.) has been delivered to your office. What information should I provide?

Please provide the one of the following information:
1)Tracking number (for applications that were sent through registered mail)

*Please note our system can only provide information that is shown on the front of your shipping parcel.
14) I want to travel to Pakistan with my infant/child. What are my options?
Your infant/child can get entry into Pakistan on one of the following documents:
1) Machine readable Pakistan passport
2) NICOP
*All persons traveling to Pakistan on a valid NICOP must have a Canadian Passport valid at least 6 months from the date of travel.
3) Visa on Canadian Passport
15) What is the procedure to vote in Pakistan?
We have not been officially informed by the government of Pakistan of any procedure for voting by overseas Pakistanis. If and when we receive any guidelines, they will be widely publicized and communicated to all sections of the Pakistani community.
We will do everything possible to publicize this information including informing local media, sending out an email to our Pakistani contacts, informing the Pakistani communities and posting information on our website.

16) My documents have been shipped from your office and when tracking on Canada Post is showing delivered but I have not received it. What should I do?

17) I have submitted an application and I want to cancel my application, can I get a refund for my fees?
No, all application fees are non-refundable.
18) I will be mailing my application to your office, if I have not submitted all the correct requirements will my application be sent back?
Incomplete applications may be sent back depending on the volume of applications currently in our office.
Please note, the following documents/procedure is being followed for Passport renewal of Minors (for below, 18 years of age) with single parent. (Reference: Passport Rules 2021)

FAQ Police Clearance
1) How long it will take for my police record check from Pakistan?
Since the Police Clearance Certificate is issued after clearance from Pakistan, it may take up to 16-20 weeks.
2) Why my police check is taking so long?
If you have not provided the correct/complete living address of Pakistan then your police check may return un-verified or take longer than usual.
FAQ Registration of Child
1) What is Child Registration Certificate (CRC)? Is it the same as the Registration of Child?
No. The CRC is issued by National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and this is a permanent document and Child Registration is a temporary document to provide services of immediate nature.
2) What is the age limit for registration of child?
Children born to Pakistani national parents can be registered with the Consulate General within six months from the date of birth.
3) My husband/wife is a foreign national can I apply for child registration?
If one of the parents is Pakistani national, he or she can apply for child registration.
FAQ Visa
As long you have your Valid Pakistani Passport or NICOP you can travel to Pakistan without visa. Smart Chip Card / CNIC is not considered as NICOP. In all other cases, you need to get e-visa against your Canadian Passport. Birth Registration of a child with the Consulate is neither a substitute for visa nor passport. Parents can either obtain Pakistani passport for their child or they can seek visa on Canadian passport of the child.

To apply for the spouse visa for Pakistan, we need original marriage certificate, your spouse’s Pakistani CNIC / Passport, your in-laws invitation letter along with the scanned copies of their Pakistani CNIC / Passport.

You travel to Pakistan (your home country) on this minimum validity but cannot come back to Canada. For international travel, your passport must be valid for at least six months.
