Pakistan and Romania have enjoyed cordial relations ever since establishment of diplomatic relations on 15 October 1964. Romania being a technologically advanced country supported Pakistan in industrialization efforts assisting in expanding and establishing industries in oil, fertilizers and cement sectors. Romania joined EU in 2007 and became member of Schengen Area on June 1, 2024. Romania is an important EU member and Pakistan is keen to further strengthen its relations with this country.
