A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the High Commission of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to commemorate the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan on
14 August 2024. Pakistani community in Brunei Darussalam including doctors, teachers, businessmen, military officers, students as well as the officials of the High Commission along with their families attended the ceremony. Bruneian friends also joined Pakistani community to celebrate the Independence Day of Pakistan.
Messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan on this occasion were read out. Both the leaders in their messages paid rich tribute to the Father of the Nation and other leaders of Freedom Movement for their vision, political acumen and unparalleled sacrifices which led to the creation of Pakistan on 14 August 1947.
On the auspicious occasion, the outgoing High Commissioner launched a book titled “Pakistan-A Resilient Nation” in collaboration with the Reading and Literary Association (ReLA), which would be taught in Brunei’s Primary Schools. In the book, charismatic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and importance of freedom has been highlighted. The book also contains interesting facts about Pakistan.
The outgoing High Commissioner, joined by the community members, cut the cake on the auspicious occasion.
At this occasion, the outgoing High Commissioner and Pakistani community members reiterated the spirit of Independence and expressed their resolve to serve the motherland with utmost sincerity and dedication for the peace, prosperity and development of Pakistan.
