The Commissioning Ceremony of Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) YAMAMA was held at Constanta Port on December 17, 2024.

Mr. Shafquat Hussain Akhtar, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Projects) and Ambassador Arshad Jan witnessed the ceremony.
PNS YAMAMA is named after the famous battle of Yamama fought in 632 AD at Yamama historic region. PNS YAMAMA is the state-of-art first ship to bear this name and is second ship of 2600 tons of OPV Batch.
Commissioning is a milestone in case of a ship marking its readiness for service in the Navy after undergoing tests and trials of systems & equipment.
PNS YAMAMA is designed for broad range of maritime operations, including security and non-combat military missions. The ship is approximately 85 meters long with a top speed of around 22 knots and a range of 5,000 nautical miles. It has various armament options, and futures integrated navigation and surveillance systems as well as helicopter facilities.
The ship is constructed by M/s. Damen of Netherlands in collaboration with Romanian Navy. PNS YAMAMA is the 4th Pakistan Navy ship that has been built at DAMEN Shipyard Galati Romania.
PNS YAMAMA is capable to safeguard maritime frontiers of Pakistan and will act as force multiplier for enhancing Pakistan Navy’s performance in the Indian Ocean Region. It has long range air/surface surveillance and navigation radar systems.
