Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met with his Kyrgyz counterpart Mr. Chingiz Azamatovich Aidarbekov on the sidelines of SCO Council of Foreign Ministers Conference in Bishkek in Bishkek on 21st May, 2019. Foreign Minister Qureshi commended the Kyrgyz side for making excellent arrangements for the Conference. He also referred to deep historical and cultural ties between the two countries and thanked the Kyrgyz side for its active support for Pakistan's membership for the SCO, the second biggest international organization after the United Nations comprising 3.2 billion people. The two sides also reviewed their cooperation in bilateral and multilateral forums including the UN, OIC, ECO and SCO. Both sides also stressed the need to increase people-to-people, business-to-business and education-to-education contacts between the countries. Mr. Aidarbekov appreciated Kyrgyzstan's partnership with Pakistan and assured Foreign Minister Qureshi to further strengthen these ties during his tenure. The two sides also reviewed regional and global issues in particular pertaining to Afghanistan, counter-terrorism and security. Issues related to the welfare of Pakistani students, expatriate community and prisoners were also discussed during the meeting The Foreign Minister extended an invitation to Foreign Minister Aidarbekov to visit Islamabad for an official visit which he graciously accepted Bishkek 22 May 2019
