To express solidarity with the people of the Indian Occupied Kashmir in their legitimate struggle for the right to self-determination, a community gathering was organized at the Embassy today. It was attended by a large number of community members and officials of the Embassy along with their families. The ceremony began with the recitation from the Holy Quran. The national anthems of Pakistan & Azad Kashmir were played. The messages of President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan were read out on the occasion. Pakistani students from different universities performed national songs. While expressing tribute to the unparallel commitment of the Kashmiris for the attainment of the legitimate right for self-determination, the Charge d’ Affaires highlighted grave human right situation in the occupied valley after 5 August, 2019. He informed the gathering about the stand taken on the issue by the UN Secretary General, UN High Commissioner on Human Rights, the UN experts, Amnesty International, the US Congressional Commission and Parliament of the European Union. He also informed them about protests by the Muslims of India after publication of National Register of Citizens for Assam and passing of Citizenship Amendment Act. The participants expressed solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren and reiterated their resolve to make efforts in their respective area of influence to create awareness among the local population about the Kashmir issue and unprecedented human rights violations by Indian forces in the Kashmir valley.
