Pakistan Embassy Kyrgyzstan hosted a reception to celebrate the 85th National Day of Pakistan at Novotel Bishkek yesterday on 17 April 2024. H.E. Temirbek Erkinov, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The reception was attended by senior Kyrgyz government officials, members of diplomatic corps, notables of the city and Pakistani community in Bishkek. Kyrgyz media including Vecherniy Bishkek, Asia TV and TV 15 covered the event.
The event commenced with the national anthems of Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan. H.E. Ambassador Hasan Zaigham and H.E. Temirbek Erkinov addressed the participants followed by a cake cutting ceremony.
In his address, H.E. Temirbek Erkinov congratulated the government and people of Pakistan on the occasion of Pakistan Day. He stated that Kyrgyz Republic considered Pakistan as an important partner both in a bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations such as the UN, SCO, OIC and others. Our countries also effectively interact within the framework of large-scale regional projects, among which the CASA-1000 initiative is of particular importance. This project is an important element of sustainable development of the energy sector and would strengthen economic ties between the countries of Central and South Asia.
He underlined the successful development of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan with more than 14 thousand students from Pakistan studying in the Kyrgyz universities. He noted that Pakistani students were making a significant contribution to strengthening the ties between the two peoples, acting as "ambassadors of public diplomacy" and creating strong bridges of friendship and mutual understanding.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Hasan Zaigham explained the significance of Pakistan resolution adopted on 23rd March 1940 for a separate homeland for Muslims. Giving a brief overview of recent progress in Kyrgyz-Pakistan relations, he expressed confidence that the relationship would continue to flourish in the coming years based on solid foundations laid by various bilateral consultation mechanisms. He reiterated that Kyrgyzstan is Pakistan’s most valued partner in Central Asia and a critical factor in Pakistan’s energy security. He mentioned that CASA-1000 project is an enduring symbol of our relationship in the field of energy and it would help enhance our bilateral relations to the strategic level.
The Ambassador together with the Chief Guest, Deputy Minister of Justice Mr. Sydykov Orozbek, Deputy Minister of Defence Mr. Terdikbaev Elrlis and Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mr. Mahmetkulov Albert cut the ceremonial cake. Tourism posters about Pakistan and paintings depicting Pakistan’s iconic truck art were displayed on the occasion.
