Pakistan’s Independence Day Celebrated in Bucharest
Today, the Embassy of Pakistan in Bucharest celebrated Independence Day of Pakistan at the Chancery premises. The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Ms. Shazia Muneer, Charge d’Affaires (a.i.), hoisted the national flag in the presence of a large number of members of the Pakistani community and officials of the Embassy, followed by playing National Anthem of Pakistan.
The gathering paid solemn tribute to the sacrifices of the Muslims of the subcontinent and the founding father of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, whose visionary leadership and unwavering determination culminated in the creation of Pakistan on 14 August 1947.
On the occasion, the messages of the President the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan were read out. The messages highlighted the significance of Pakistan’s independence, paid tribute to the sacrifices of the nation’s forefathers and martyrs, and reiterated the resolve to build a peaceful, prosperous, democratic and progressive Pakistan.
In her remarks, Ms. Shazia Muneer congratulated Pakistanis at home and abroad on the auspicious occasion and emphasized that Independence Day is not only a celebration but also an opportunity to reaffirm commitment to the ideals of unity, faith, discipline, democracy, rule of law, tolerance and social justice. She paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Pakistan Movement and the services of those who have contributed to the defence, development and prosperity of the country. She also acknowledged the resilience and determination of the Pakistani nation in overcoming challenges and advancing towards a brighter future. Ms. Muneer underscored the importance Pakistan attaches to its longstanding and friendly relations with Romania, expressing the hope that bilateral relations would continue to expand in political, economic, cultural, educational and people-to-people domains. She also appreciated the valuable contribution of the Pakistani community in Romania, noting that the community serves as an important bridge between the two countries and contributes positively to strengthening people-to-people ties.
The ceremony concluded with prayers for the progress, prosperity and security of Pakistan, as well as for peace and stability in the region and the continued strengthening of Pakistan–Romania friendship.
